Scammed or Hacked? Digital Security Check Melbourne
If someone had remote access to your computer, took over your email or tricked you into a fake "tech support" call, we find and remove what they left behind and lock your accounts back down — across the Melbourne CBD, Richmond, South Yarra, Box Hill, Glen Waverley, Preston, Footscray, Dandenong and Frankston.
4.9 from 127 Google reviewsIf you have just realised you have been scammed, you are far from alone — we see it every week across Melbourne, and it happens to careful, capable people. A fake tech-support call, a text about a parcel, a pop-up that wouldn't close. Once someone has had remote control of your computer or your email password, you need to know what they left behind. That is what our security check answers.
When to Book a Security Check
Someone Had Remote Access
You let a caller install AnyDesk, TeamViewer, Quick Assist or similar and control your computer.
Fake Tech Support Call
A caller claimed to be from Microsoft, Telstra, NBN, your bank or the police and asked you to do things on your computer.
Email Account Taken Over
Friends are getting emails you didn’t send, or you can’t log in and the recovery details have changed.
Scary Pop-Up Warning
A browser page said your computer was infected or locked and gave a phone number to call.
Clicked a Scam Link
You entered a password or card details on a fake login page from a text or email.
Something Just Feels Wrong
New programs you didn’t install, the mouse moving on its own, or settings that keep changing.
What Scammers Leave Behind
A remote-access scam rarely ends when you hang up. While they had control, scammers often install a second remote-access program in case you remove the first, save your browser passwords, add a browser extension that watches what you type, or open your email and create a rule that quietly forwards copies of your messages to them.
None of this is obvious from the desktop, which is why deleting the one program you remember installing is not enough. Our check goes through the computer methodically — programs, services, startup items, browser, user accounts and email settings — so you know it is clean before you use it for banking again.
Your Money Is a Job for Your Bank
We are a computer support business, not a bank or a recovery agency. If money has left your account or card details were entered anywhere, call your bank first — they can stop transactions and advise you on disputing them. Report the scam through ReportCyber at cyber.gov.au so police have a record, and contact IDCARE on 1800 595 160 if your identity documents or personal details were shared.
Be very careful of anyone who contacts you afterwards offering to recover lost money for a fee. That is a well-known follow-up scam aimed at people who have just been targeted. We will never contact you out of the blue.

Frequently Asked Questions
Call your bank or card provider straight away and ask them to stop any transactions — Scamwatch recommends this as the first step. If the scammer had access to your computer, switch it off or disconnect it from the internet. Then change your email and banking passwords from a different device, such as your phone. After that, book a security check so we can clean and check the computer properly.
No, and be wary of anyone who says they can — "recovery" services are a common second scam aimed at people who have just been scammed. Only your bank or card provider can try to recover or dispute a payment. What we do is make sure the scammer can no longer get into your computer, email or accounts.
Deleting the program you know about is a good start but often not enough. Scammers sometimes install a second remote-access tool, add browser extensions, create extra user accounts or set up email forwarding rules so they keep a way back in. Our check looks for all of these, not just the one you saw.
It is charged at our standard rates: $125 per hour remotely or $205 per hour on-site, with a one-hour minimum. If the computer may still be compromised, we recommend an on-site visit or bringing it in rather than connecting to it remotely. We tell you what we find before doing any extra work.
Report it to your bank first. You can report cybercrime to police through ReportCyber at cyber.gov.au, and Scamwatch collects scam reports to warn others. If your identity documents or personal details were exposed, IDCARE — Australia's free national identity and cyber support service — can help on 1800 595 160.
Try not to use it for banking, email or anything involving passwords until it has been checked. If you must use it, keep it disconnected from the internet. Use your phone or another device to change passwords in the meantime.
Yes. We secure the account, remove any forwarding rules or connected apps the attacker added, reset the password, turn on multi-factor authentication and check the recovery phone number and email are yours. We also check whether the computer itself was the way in.
Yes. We check phones and tablets for unknown apps, device management profiles and account access, and help secure the Apple ID or Google account that everything else depends on.
