What it costs

Published rates, quoted before we start. No call-out fee on top and no surprise invoice.

On-site, at your home or office

$205 per hour

A Melbourne technician attends, same day where we can. One-hour minimum, then billed by time.

Remote, over a secure connection

$125 per hour

For software, email, Microsoft 365 and virus problems that do not need anyone in the room.

Running a business and want a fixed monthly cost instead of hourly? Managed IT plans start at $1,000 per month excluding GST for up to five users, covering licensing, security, backups and a help desk.

What everyone else charges

Most Melbourne IT providers do not publish a rate. From what is published, ad-hoc IT support in this city generally sits between $90 and $250 per hour excluding GST, and the spread comes down to two things.

$90 to $150 per hour

General break-fix and troubleshooting from a standard technician. Many providers in this band add a call-out fee or a travel charge once someone has to attend, so the advertised number is not what you pay.

$150 to $250 per hour

Specialist work: network architecture, a live security incident, server or cloud migration, or urgent after-hours attendance.

Where we sit

$205 per hour on-site with no call-out fee and no travel surcharge, and $125 per hour remote. One rate, quoted up front, whether the job is simple or awkward.

What a real job actually costs

Most home and small-business work is one visit. These are the jobs we are called for most often in Melbourne, and what they normally come to.

New computer setup — from $205

Unboxing, Windows or macOS configuration, moving your files, email and photos across, printers and peripherals connected. Usually one on-site hour.

Wi-Fi or NBN dropouts — from $205

Modem and router setup, dead spots mapped and fixed, mesh or extenders placed properly. On-site, because it has to be tested in the building.

Email not working — from $125

Outlook, Gmail, Microsoft 365 or Bigpond accounts repaired and syncing again across devices. Normally resolved remotely in under an hour.

Virus or malware removal — from $125

Infection removed, the machine cleaned up and protection put back in place. Remote where the machine still boots, on-site where it does not.

Printer back on the network — from $205

Drivers, wireless setup and the scan-to-email that stopped working after an update. All major brands.

Ongoing business IT — from $1,000/mo

A fixed monthly plan instead of hourly, covering licensing, security, backups, your website and a help desk. See managed IT pricing.

When a plan is cheaper than paying by the hour

The break-even is simpler than it looks. Ad-hoc suits a household or a business whose systems rarely stop. A plan suits a business that cannot afford for them to.

Stay hourly if

You call once or twice a year, you already hold your own Microsoft 365 licences, and a day of downtime is an inconvenience rather than lost revenue.

Move to a plan if

You are calling for more than about five hours a month, or you are already paying separately for licences, hosting, backups and security tooling. On a plan those are inside the one price.

What changes on a plan

Problems get found before they stop work, rather than after. The monitoring, patching and 24/7 security watch run continuously instead of only when you call.

Hourly rates on this page include GST. Managed IT plan prices exclude GST. Prices are current as at August 2026. We are an IT support and managed services business, not a repair workshop — we do not fit screens, keyboards, charging ports or hinges, and we do not do board-level repair. Hardware that needs that is diagnosed and referred to a specialist.

Common questions about IT support pricing

How much does IT support cost per hour in Melbourne?

Geeks I.T. Melbourne charges $205 per hour on-site and $125 per hour remote, including GST. On-site visits have a one-hour minimum and are then billed by time. Across the Melbourne market, ad-hoc IT support generally runs between $90 and $250 per hour depending on whether you are getting a general technician or specialist engineering, and many providers add a call-out fee or travel charge on top of the hourly rate.

Is there a call-out fee on top of the hourly rate?

No. Our $205 hourly rate is the price for a technician attending in Melbourne. There is no separate call-out fee and no travel surcharge inside our service area. The job is quoted before we start.

What is the minimum charge for an on-site visit?

One hour. Most jobs are resolved inside that hour. If the work runs longer we bill by time from there, and we tell you before it does.

How much does a typical job cost?

Most home and small-business jobs are one visit. A new computer setup with data transfer, a Wi-Fi or NBN dropout fixed, an email or Microsoft 365 account repaired, a printer put back on the network, or a virus removal are usually resolved within a single one-hour on-site visit at $205, or in under an hour remotely at $125.

Is a monthly plan cheaper than paying hourly?

It depends on how often something breaks. Complete managed IT starts at $1,000 per month excluding GST for a business of up to five users, and that price also covers Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace licensing, website hosting, domain and DNS, DMARC, managed EDR and ITDR with a 24/7 security operations centre, basic SEO and a business-hours help desk. A business calling for ad-hoc help more than about five hours a month, or paying separately for those licences and security tools, generally costs less on a plan.

What do managed IT services cost in Melbourne?

Our managed IT plans are $1,000 per month for up to 5 users, $1,500 up to 10, $2,500 up to 20, $3,500 up to 30, $4,500 up to 40 and $5,500 up to 50, all excluding GST, with no setup fee and no lock-in contract. Teams over 50 are quoted on the same basis. On-site visits are charged separately at $205 per hour. Across the wider Melbourne market, per-user managed plans commonly run between $50 and $200 per user per month, though these usually exclude licensing, hosting and security tooling.

Do you charge if you cannot fix it?

Our No Fix No Fee policy applies to standard remote and on-site technical support where we are unable to resolve your issue. It excludes hardware repairs, does not guarantee a resolution within the minimum one-hour visit, and does not cover additional labour time or parts, which remain payable. Where additional work is quoted and not accepted, No Fix No Fee does not apply to that work.

Do you repair laptops, Macs or screens?

No. We are an IT support business, not a repair workshop. We do not fit screens, keyboards, charging ports or hinges, and we do not do board-level repair. Hardware that needs that is diagnosed and referred to a specialist.
